The Isabel Bloom Art Education Fund was established to honor the memory of our founder, Isabel Bloom and provide extra financial support to the visual arts programs within the primary and secondary schools of Scott and Rock Island Counties. Grants from the fund are used to further the education of local children and art instructors, foster greater appreciation of the visual arts and help enhance the quality of life in the Quad Cities.
The Isabel Bloom Art Education Fund has granted $8,000 to 4 area schools for 2011. Congratulations to the kids, teachers and parents who will benefit from more art projects in our schools!
Pictured here are examples of artwork from the talented kids of past-winner Jordan Catholic School in Rock Island, Ill. Their energetic and resourceful art teacher Jacqui Dodson chose to teach about and experiment with art from around the world. To see a 5th grader creating a cubist painting like Picasso (from Spain) is awe-inspiring! The African masks … the Chinese calligraphy … the Australian Aborigine art; all amazing. Isabel would have been quite proud to lend her name to this project. We’re grateful to be able to help support arts in the schools!
