Celtic Cross

There are a variety of explanations for the meaning of the symbols that make up the ‘Celtic Cross.’ Some say the ring surrounding the intersection represents the sun, some say the moon, and others say it represents eternity and the endlessness of God’s love. The same goes for the knots on the cross. For artist Donna Young, the knot on the base represents the tree of life. The knots on the side represent our interconnectedness, what unites us. And the shamrock in the center represents the trinity.
